Family Ministries is committed to providing the
best care for children that come into care. The mission of
Family Ministries is accomplished through a six fold program:

Family Structure
(including siblings) - Dedicated houseparents who are
specifically chosen to provide a stable nurturing setting within a
true family home environment.
Conflict Resolution - Children are taught by
example to solve conflict with others biblically.
Structure & Consistency - Child Care staff do not
use shift work, the cottage is their own home and they live there on
a permanent basis.
Safety - Children have their own space in their
rooms and are provided a safe warm bed.
Daily Responsibilities - Not only are children
afforded the opportunity to be part of a family, they also have the
opportunity to belong to a family and all the responsibilities that
go with being a family member.
Legacy
Christian Academy
Accreditation - School is
accredited by the Florida Council of Private Schools
Individualized - Each students educational plan is
tailored to meet their needs.
Diagnostic - Students are evaluated to determine if
educational gap work is needed so that each student can be
successful with their academics.
Goal Setting - The curriculum provides the
opportunity for each student to work with his/her teacher to
determine short and long range academic goals.

Mastery Based Learning - Students do not move onto
the next PACE until they have mastered the skills of their current
PACE.
Core Curriculum - The curriculum of LCA is designed
for students to master the skills needed for Math, English, Social
Studies, and Science. Students also have the opportunity for
elective classes such as Spanish, Speech, Shop, Art, and PE.
Learning Center - Each Learning Center is staffed
with one teacher and is designed for students to have their own
"Student Office" to optimize their learning opportunity.
Post HS Education - Students are guided on post HS
education. Each student has the opportunity for scholarships.
Social Skills
Relationships
(Friends) - Each child is afforded many opportunities to
interact and become involved in a variety of activities, sports, and
church events.
De-Victimizing - Each child is individually
appreciated and challenged to continually learn and grow.
Boundaries - Personal boundaries are practiced and
taught to children in natural settings and everyday situations.
Independent Living Skills
Personal Hygiene - Children are
taught about personal hygiene by their Houseparents.
Household Chores (Cleaning & Repairing) - Each
child has responsibilities within the family. These
responsibilities help to teach the child not only how to care for
themselves but also how to care and manage a home.

$$$ Management - Children have an office account in
which they receive $15 a month to manage with the guidance of their
Houseparents. Older children are encouraged to get jobs in the
community at which time they also open bank accounts.
Off-Campus Employment - Children that are
responsible have the opportunity to get jobs in the community.
Once they begin working, under the guidance of Houseparents, they
open a bank account.
Volunteer Work/Community Service - All students are
encouraged to participate in volunteer and community service
opportunities. Students of LCA are required to do Community Service.

Involvement
Church -
Children are encouraged to participate in the youth activities at
Church.
Sports - Each Child has the opportunity to
participate in community sports (baseball, soccer, cheerleading,
etc.)
Fine Arts - Children may schedule music and
instrument lessons, as well as, become involved with drama, worship,
and praise bands.

Medical & Dental Care
- Each child is routinely taken to regular doctor visits for
physicals and their dentist for cleanings.
